The article analyzes the variants registered by the two manuscripts which transmit De expeditione in Turcos by Biondo Flavio, i.e. Vatican City, BAV, Vat. Lat. 1946 (= V) and Genoa, UL, 322 (= G). The conclusion is that the variants of V, all explained by ideological motivations, should not be attributed to a moving archetype within the author's workshop, but to precise interventions by a person close to the curia. Furthermore, the hypothesis is advanced that this person may be Iacopo Ammannati Piccolomini, who was secretary of Cardinal Domenico Capranica and participated in the two missions of the Cardinal to Naples ( July 1453) and Genoa (October 1453).
