Lessico, argomentazioni e strutture retoriche nella polemica di età cristiana (III-V sec.)

The present volume gathers the proceedings of the international colloquium “Lessico, argomentazioni e strutture retoriche nella polemica di età cristiana (III-V sec.)”, held in Lecce (Italy) 9-10 April 2010. The contributions are distributed into three sections: I. Temi e aspetti della polemica religiosa; II. Lessico e strutture retoriche del discorso polemico; III Religione e retorica: sviluppi successivi. The first one brings together papers which examine the contents of polemics in the patristic age; the second privileges the rhetorical and lexical approach to polemical texts; the third broadens the scope of inquiry. All the studies aim to examine the themes and the forms of polemics and therefore to highlight the features related to sapientia and eloquentia, in the words of Augustine, features which play a leading role in the intra- and extra-ecclesial polemical debates with pagans and Jews.
