Abstract

The of St. Baras ( 212) traditionally attributed to John Mauropous would appear to be the work of a certain John Mauropodes, monk and archdeacon of the monastery dedicated to the Prodromos at Petra, the church of which contained the tomb of the ascetic Baras and, after having been ruined, was restored by John the Faster.
