Dall’entusiasmo al metodo: Culianu incontra Bianchi

Negli anni trascorsi a Milano, tra il 1973 e il 1976, si realizzò per Ioan Petru Culianu il fecondo incontro con il suo primo vero maestro nel campo della Storia delle religioni, Ugo Bianchi. La scoperta di nuovi temi di studio e soprattutto il richiamo costante a una rigorosa accuratezza metodologica condussero il giovane esule romeno a una più cosciente maturità scientifica, come dimostrano le testimonianze dei biografi di Culianu e alcune tra le sue stesse dichiarazioni. Il suo primo scritto in Italia (e in italiano), la Nota su La Vergine delle rocce di Leonardo, del 1975, che sviluppa una parte della sua tesi di laurea condotta in Romania, rappresenta, con i suoi pregi e insieme con le sue ingenuità, la testimonianza del passaggio «dall’entusiasmo al metodo».

During the years Ioan Petru Culianu spent in Milan, 1973 to 1976, the fruitful encounter with his first real teacher in the field of the History of Religions, Ugo Bianchi, took place. The discovery of new subjects of study and, above all, the demand for rigorous methodological accuracy led the young exile from Romania to a more conscious scientific maturity, as shown by Culianu’s biographers as well as some of his own statements. His first text written in Italy (and in Italian), Nota su La Vergine delle rocce di Leonardo (1975), elaborates on a part of his Romanian doctoral thesis and demonstrates, with all its merits and naivety, the transition ‘from enthusiasm to method’.
