„Göttlich ist der Sieg über den Tod.“ Ein vergessenes armenisches Fragment aus dem Kommentar Cyrills von Alexandrien zum 1. Korintherbrief

Im Jahre 1929 wies Joseph Lebon auf die Existenz eines armenischen Fragments des Kommentars Cyrills von Alexandrien zum 1. Korintherbrief hin. Dieses im dogmatischen, aus dem 7. Jahrhundert stammenden armenischen Florilegium Siegel des Glaubens erhaltene Fragment stellt den einzigen auf uns gekommenen Text des Kommentars dar, der in die altarmenische Sprache übersetzt wurde. Der vorliegende Beitrag präsentiert die erste komplexe Untersuchung dieses im Grunde genommen völlig unbekannten Textstücks. Er bietet den Wortlaut des armenischen Fragments und dessen deutsche Übersetzung. Daran schließt sich eine detaillierte philologische Analyse des Textes an, in Rahmen derer das armenische Fragment sowohl in lexikalischer als auch in syntaktischer Hinsicht mit dem entsprechenden Auszug der erhaltenen griechischen Fassung des Kommentars Cyrills verglichen wird. Geboten werden darüber hinaus Anmerkungen zur formalen Einordnung des Fragments innerhalb des Kommentars sowie zu seinem Inhalt. Der Artikel schließt mit einigen Ausführungen zur Rezeption der Schrift Cyrills in der christlich-orientalischen Literatur.

En 1929, Joseph Lebon a signalé l’existence d’un fragment arménien du commentaire de Cyrille d’Alexandrie sur 1 Corinthiens. Ce fragment, conservé dans le florilège dogmatique arménien Sceau de la foi, datant du vii^e siècle, représente le seul texte du commentaire qui nous soit parvenu traduit dans l’ancienne langue arménienne. Cet article présente la première étude complexe de ce texte pratiquement inconnu. Il offre le texte du fragment arménien et sa traduction allemande. Cette traduction est suivie d’une analyse philologique détaillée du texte qui compare le fragment arménien, tant sur le plan lexical que syntaxique, avec l’extrait correspondant de la version grecque existante du commentaire de Cyrille. En outre, des commentaires sont proposés sur l’intégration formelle du fragment dans le commentaire ainsi que sur son contenu. L’article se termine par quelques remarques sur la réception du commentaire de Cyrille dans la littérature orientale chrétienne.

In 1929 Joseph Lebon pointed out the existence of an Armenian fragment of Cyril of Alexandria’s commentary on 1 Corinthians. This fragment, preserved in the dogmatic Armenian Florilegium Seal of Faith, dating from the 7^th century, represents the only text of the commentary that has come down to us translated into the ancient Armenian language. The present article presents the first complex study of this basically completely unknown text. It offers the wording of the Armenian fragment and its German translation. This is followed by a detailed philological analysis of the text, comparing the Armenian fragment both lexically and syntactically with the corresponding excerpt of the extant Greek version of Cyril’s commentary. In addition, comments on the formal placement of the fragment within the commentary as well as on its content are offered. The article concludes with some remarks on the reception of Cyril’s commentary in Christian Oriental literature.
