Cet article cherche à montrer que, malgré les assertions contraires de Charles Jones et d'Arno Borst, le calendrier julien composé par Bède, en même temps qu'une table pascale (532-1063), comme aide pour la lecture de son traité De temporum ratione (DTR), n'est pas perdu. Sa diffusion débuta du vivant de Bède et des copies se répandirent à travers toute l'Europe. Le calendrier du ms. Berlin, Phillipps MS 1869, considéré par Borst comme la source d'un Reichskalender qui, rédigé en 789, se serait propagé à travers l'Europe, n'est pas autre chose qu'un descendant du calendrier associé au DTR de Bède. La soigneuse collation, réalisée par Borst, de nombreux calendriers présentant les mêmes particularités distinctives, nous permet de reconstituer le calendrier associé au DTR de Bède (Appendice A), qui, à l'origine, était dépourvu de noms de saints. Ces derniers, insérés dans le calendrier à une époque ancienne, tandis que celui-ci circulait encore en Angleterre (Appendice B), contribuent à éclairer les origines de la fête de la Purification, en date du 2 février.

The Passion of St. Arethas conserved in the codex 2 of the Protaton of Mount Athos (BHG 166y) is a unique metaphrastic version which, as shown in this paper, should be placed between the ancient Passion (BHG 166) and the Metaphrasis made by Symeon (BHG 167). Apparently this text served as a model for Symeon in his metaphrasis of the Passion of St. Arethas. In these terms it provides evidence of intermediate versions now lost.

The Encomion of St. Baras (BHG 212) traditionally attributed to John Mauropous would appear to be the work of a certain John Mauropodes, monk and archdeacon of the monastery dedicated to the Prodromos at Petra, the church of which contained the tomb of the ascetic Baras and, after having been ruined, was restored by John the Faster.

The palimpsest Ambrosiano F 106 sup. (with the homilies of Leo VI the Wise in the upper writing) contains in the writing underneath, in addition to a florilegium of the Basilica (studied by G. Mercati and edited by C. Ferrini) and brief hagiographical fragments, a considerable part of a Synaxarium for the year of recension C* (the group of Northern Calabria). The entire manuscript is described, in particular the part containing the Synaxarium, which until now has not been studied. The structure of the original codex has been reconstructed and a detailed description of the feasts in the Synaxarium is provided in a final table.
