Whereas the living and still developing Latin of late antiquity is edited in the following the orthography and grammar of the classical Latin period, the edition of Latin inscriptions from the Middle Ages and the early modern period in the Deutsche Inschriften is not based on an orthographic standard. With or without using digital tools, any edition of Latin inscriptions of whatever period should preserve the palaeographic specifics and phonological features of a given inscription. Solutions may differ, but should be standardised and unequivocal.
