The paper first discusses the transmission of Origen’s writings and their modern editions, pointing to the problems raised by both processes. Secondly, it analyzes the discoveries of new texts of Origen from the papyrus found at Toura, near Cairo, in 1941 until the find of the Munich Codex Graecus 314 with the “Homilies on the Psalms”. Finally, it briefly deals with the perspectives for future research, by stressing the necessity of advancing the studies of philological nature and opening in this way the path to new critical editions.
