Digitization with the help of modern technologies is currently on the rise and is gradually penetrating all the various institutions that look after cultural heritage, for example museums and archives. In this article, several selected variants for the digitization of small ancient Roman coins, mainly denominations AE3 and AE4, will be presented. This is basic photogrammetry with the usage of a camera and/or mobile phone camera and afterwards edited using mobile applications or computer software. The last variant is the use of an electron microscope where the outputs are of incomparably better quality; however the purchase price is also considerably higher.
