Through the reconstruction and publication of the previously unpublished correspondence between Agostino Gemelli and Ludwig Binswanger, this paper aims to highlight the salient features of the first "Symposium" on Clinical Psychology in Milan on September 1952 (with Binswanger's refusal to attend) and the reasons for the cancellation of the subsequent "Symposium on Psychotherapy", scheduled for August 1957. Along these lines, it will be possible to shed light on a significant moment in the history of the mind sciences in Italy, in the context of the dense network of relationships between Italian and European psychologists and psychiatrists.
