This article presents a fresh critical text of a cantiga d’escarnho by Pero da Ponte (B 1657/V 1191) along with an interpretive essay and notes. The poem, which has suffered from unresolved textual problems that obscured its meaning, parodies the female discourse found in the cantigas d’amigo and specifically the renuntiatio amoris spoken by the Sanhuda (angry girl).
