The article interrogates the reasons why phenomenology pushes Heideggerian thought towards the experience of the historicity of Being and later of its character as Ereignis. The answer is sought by insisting on the distinction between ‘the same’ and the ‘equal’ and on the possibility of not taking the obvious for granted.
