Between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, there was an increase in the production of Castilian-language works concerning the idealized conduct for clergy. Since theological and pastoral works were mostly written in Latin until that time, it became essential to create treatises that were intelligible to even the humblest clergymen. The importance of focusing on sermons reserved for clerics arises from the richness of this material in teaching the habits and values considered virtuous for all types of parishioners.
