Together, these memories have built up modern notions of culture and society at the town that was located on the plateau of Salhiyeh on the Middle Euphrates. Since different monuments create different memories for different groups of people at different moments in time, questions will be asked as to the way in which various memory creations, acting as catalysts in varying degrees, have served to exhibit perceptions of the historicity of Dura-Europos, in full recognition of the fact that not all memory creations will have had similar impact on the local society.
