Preview this chapter:

Pustograd is the name of the hill situated at the south-eastern end of the island of Pašman, above Zaklopica Cove, which bears the evidence of a fortress from the Byzantine period. The hill was probably already occupied in prehistoric times, although little prehistoric evidence survives to the present day. It was first mentioned by Luka Jelić in 1898, but placed in the wrong position. Zlatko Gunjača briefly described it in 1986, in the framework of his study of the Late Antique architecture along the Eastern Adriatic coast. During 2016 to 2018 the fortress remains were partly cleaned of vegetation, and the situation was documented in detail. This article presents the published data and the results of the observations of the present state of the site.
