The Church of St. Stephen in Golubić near Knin. Do We Have Clearer Indications About the Preserved Parts of the pre-Romanesque Church?, Page 1 of 1

Based on recent research, the article questions the validity of the hypothesis regarding the early medieval origin of the present-day Orthodox Church of St. Stephen in Golubić near Knin. Although the recent discovery of a larger number of pre-Romanesque fragments incorporated into its walls as spolia strengthen the hypothesis that a cocooned portion of an older early medieval structure still exists in the western part of the church, archaeological excavations undertaken along its southern wall have not confirmed that. Nevertheless, thermal imaging of selected segments of the walls in that part of the church has yielded some interesting results, which further support the aforementioned hypothesis and certainly encourages further research aimed at definitive resolving of all doubts.
