The syntactic glosses of the Liber Iudicum Popularis, Page 1 of 1

The data from these fragments is analysed from a cartographic perspective with the objective of establishing whether eleventh-century Catalan, as portrayed in the glosses, provides conclusive evidence for a V2 analysis of the language, which displays very modern traits, based on the analysis of (i) the frequency and distribution of verb position in main and embedded clauses; (ii) the distribution of subjects in main and embedded clauses; (iii) the distribution of adverbs in relation to the verb; and (iv) the location of informational focus.
