Reading Aristophanes Amid the Sands of Egypt

Only eleven of the comedies written by the famous Athenian play writer Aristophanes have survived from antiquity. Nevertheless, papyrus fragments unearthed from the sand of Egypt provide us with a unique way to develop a new understanding of Aristophanes and his reception.
