A thorough study of the princess’s iconography and titles containing some kingly and queenly elements reveals not only her unique position among the other king’s children of the New Kingdom but also some common traits with Hatshepsut herself. According to the author’s point of view, Hatshepsut promoting Neferura from early childhood as a representative of the female line in the royal family intended to use her own example in her daughter’s interests.

Edel, K.-J. Seyfried & G. Vieler, Die Felsgräbernekropole der Qubbet el-Hawa bei Assuan. I. Abteilung (Paderborn, 2008). Three major questions are addressed: 1. Does the new report contain information on all the tombs presently known? 2. Does it provide a complete and reliable epigraphic documentation of all the decorated tombs? 3. What is the quality of the archaeological and architectural documentation? Appended is a lengthy series of bibliographical notes, organized in six sections: Early explorers and excavators of the site; Work of the Bonn mission; General sources on the necropolis; Notes on specific tombs; Excavations undertaken since 1984; Coptic remains.

Clarysse, M. Maitland and K.A. WorpAbstractPublication of ten mummy labels from Panopolis and Thebes, now kept in the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. Two are false, four are authentic, the other four possibly authentic. The most interesting pieces are the bilinguals, Greek and Demotic, but also Demotic and Hieratic. No. 5 is an addendum to a well-known Panopolite family; it completes the family stemma, but also raises some new problems.

P.Heid. inv. G 1389 (I) contains a 6th century receipt in Greek concerning the paradeisos of Abba Menas. It is interesting for the mention of the monetary standard of the monastery and the hegoumenos Abba Anouphis. P.Heid. inv. G 1027 (II) and P.Bremen Übersee-Museum Inv. B 14478 (III) are 8th century bilingual (Greek-Coptic) orders for delivery. P.Heid. inv. G 1027 concerns the bonus payment in garum for Eastern for monks ‘assigned to the city’. It can be perhaps dated to 743 or 773 and was written by the scribe Hellos. P.Bremen Übersee-Museum Inv. B 14478 refers for the first time in the documentation of Bawit to an elaiourgos and was written by the well-known scribe Musaios.
