Abstract

Abstract

Publication of ten mummy labels from Panopolis and Thebes, now kept in the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. Two are false, four are authentic, the other four possibly authentic. The most interesting pieces are the bilinguals, Greek and Demotic, but also Demotic and Hieratic. No. 5 is an addendum to a well-known Panopolite family; it completes the family stemma, but also raises some new problems.
