À propos du P. Ambras
show More to view fulltext, buy and share links for:À propos du P. Ambras show Less to hide fulltext, buy and share links for: À propos du P. AmbrasBy: Jean WinandAbstractDeux passages du P. Ambras sont réexaminés.

She was a sistrum-player of Amun-Ra in the temple of Karnak at the beginning of Ptolemaic times; at least, this is the most adequate era indicated by her funerary equipment assembled from different Egyptian collections. Among the objects belonging to Nestaneteretten are a stela with a “God’s decree“, a Ptah-Sokar-Osiris statue, a one-piece-cartonnage, a hypocephalus, and a Book of the Dead papyrus. The study is dedicated to the analysis of the objects.

show More to view fulltext, buy and share links for:„Mehr Licht“. Anmerkungen zu den Vignetten von Tb 137 show Less to hide fulltext, buy and share links for: „Mehr Licht“. Anmerkungen zu den Vignetten von Tb 137AbstractThe article completes the study of Daniela Luft about Book of the Dead chapter 137, published as Studien zum altägyptischen Totenbuch volume 15 in 2009. It focuses on the vignettes of the three different spells BD 137A, 137B and BD 137 late.
The tables register nearly twice the number of the vignettes listed in Luft’s research. Here, four more types of vignettes can be differentiated than in her study. Farther, the provenance of the manuscripts takes centre of interest and shows, that most of the types are only known from Thebes. Other examples are exceptions. Generally, the Books of the Dead from Memphis and other regions are using the vignette of BD 63 as substitute for V 137.
The development of the vignettes is analysed as well. In this context, a new interpretation of the four objects in the most used vignette of BD 137 late is presented. As alternative to the previous interpretations as fans or as remainder of the four basins, the identification with pectorals is discussed. Besides that, the high rectangular objects are interpreted as amulets of linen.
Finally, the author makes a proposal to identify a so far unidentified vignette in the papyri from Akhmim. It also could be a vignette of BD 137 or respectively of BD 63.

The census declarations suggest the existence of female professional spinners at Kellis.

Two Greek inscriptions, in particular, left by a Roman decurion named Paccius Maximus at Kalabsha, make an overt display of their maker’s Greek literate education. Can this desire to protest his education and sophistication be read as cultural insecurity? The signposting techniques used to draw attention to these word-puzzles, and the poet’s direct claims to personal authorship, offer some starting-points to explore these questions.
