Notice bio-bibliographique sur H. De Meulenaere et J. Bingen, deux figures éminentes de l’égyptologie et de la papyrologie belges, longtemps associés à la direction de l’Association Égyptologique Reine Élisabeth et décédés respectivement en 2011 et en 2012.

The aim of this article is the publication of a late Middle Kingdom stela, presently in the possession of the Toledo OH, Toledo Museum of Art (USA) 1906.23, as well as an epigraphic and stylistic analysis of the Sheikh Abd el-Qurna stelae workshop.

Addenda et corrigenda à l’ouvrage du même auteur intitulé Untersuchungen zur Verwaltung und Geschichte der Institution der Gottesgemahlin des Amun vom Beginn des Neuen Reiches bis zur Spätzeit (= Ägyptologische Abhandlungen, 37), Wiesbaden 1981.

Dans cet article publié à titre postume, l’auteur passe d’abord en revue les sources concernant le prêtre thébain Pétamonnebnesouttaoui, qui exerça la fonction de troisième prophète d’Amon à la fin de la 25^e et au début de la 26^e dynastie. Ensuite, il procède à la publication intégrale de quatre statues inédites qui apportent des éléments nouveaux à l’histoire de la famille de Pétamonnebnesouttaoui.

Publication et commentaire d’un relief égyptien d’époque romaine conservé au State Museum and Picture Gallery de Baroda (Inde) sur lequel sont représentés le taureau Boukhis et une divinité que les auteurs identifient avec le dieu Toutou, et non pas avec Atoum ou Montou comme l’avaient fait antérieurement d’autres égyptologues.

Looks at a well attested Egyptian theophoric naming pattern, in casu P3/T3-dỉ followed by a god's name: 'the one (masculine or feminine) whom god X has given', rendered as Πετε-/Tετε- in Greek. Mapping this onomastic type's popularity reflects the evolution of social values as diverse as language and religion from 800 BC to AD 800, a turbulent time in which Egypt saw a rapid succession of foreign powers dominating its territory.

Reviews the events of the 206-185 revolt. Differs on some points from the most recent work: (i) The countryside in the southern Thebaid was not under Ptolemaic control before the final battle (close to Thebes); - (ii) Rebel hostility towards Egyptian religion seems to be Ptolemaic propaganda, and the Ptolemies had apparently lost control of the Nile in 195 BC; - (iii) Ethnic conflict was a significant factor in the revolt.

Der Artikel befasst sich mit den fragmentarischen Resten zweier Mumienporträttafeln aus römischer Zeit, die bisher fälschlich vereinigt wurden [ed.: D.L. THOMPSON, A Patchwork "Fayum" in Toledo, AJA 77 (1973), S. 438-439 und Taf. 88]. Während man diese Fehlinterpretation jüngst erkannte, steht eine genaue Datierung aller Porträtfragmente noch aus. Durch den Vergleich mit römischen Haarmoden wie sie auf Bildwerken und Münzen Verbreitung fanden, gelingt es, die hier interessierenden weiblichen Porträtfragmente zu datieren. Eine Rekonstruktion der ersten Porträttafel ist unschwer möglich, da noch eine Vielzahl von Fragmentstreifen vorhanden ist. Anders verhält es sich bei der zweiten Tafel, die nur noch durch einen Rest vertreten wird, welcher aber zumindest Details einer Frisur erkennen lässt. Dennoch ist es möglich, auch diesen Artefakt halbwegs präzise zeitlich einzuordnen. Die Studie will darlegen, wie man selbst kleinste Porträtfragmente bis auf das Jahrzehnt genau datieren kann.
