The use of hyperbaton in Jerome’s translations of the Vulgate can reveal the status of disjunctions in Late Latin: does he preserve an hyperbaton of the source text (Greek or Hebrew) or does he remove it, does he introduce an hyperbaton, and what kind of hyperbaton? This paper investigates two main types of hyperbaton: the so called ‘verbal hyperbaton’ and the anastrophe, in particular with relative pronoun or adjective ( vs ).
