Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Many new strains in the Bonhoeffer-research of the 21st Century rather represent still valid tendencies from the twentieth century. It is thus difficult to speak of “New tendencies in the study of Bonhoeffer in the twenty-first century”. However, we can distinguish five lines of interpretation of Bonhoeffer in secondary literature, namely biographical approaches; ethical streams of interpreting Bonhoeffer including his political ethics; those works that focus on Bonhoeffer’s mysticism and spirituality; interpretations of the more philosophical works of Bonhoeffer and finally new tendencies in the subject of Religionless Christianity and Secularism. The keywords concerning an interpretation of Bonhoeffer are still very much the same as in the twentieth century, namely the assumption of Continuity instead of Discontinuity according to the interpretation of Bonhoeffer’s life and work; non-religious interpretation of biblical concepts instead of self-secularisation of the Church; Christology instead of anthropology.
