Abstract

Abstract

The block of an individual whose name is Siesi, is kept at the Egyptian Museum Cairo (TR. 19.5.25.3, SR 4/12051). Apart from the date of acquisition – 1925 – the museum’s database holds no record of provenance, method of acquisition, or date of the object. The archaeological context of this block is unknown, but in this paper, it is attempted to trace its provenance on the basis of textual evidence, as well as to suggest a possible date. Furthermore, the inscriptions, the name of the owner, and his titles will be investigated. This in turn may shed light on whether this Siesi is an as yet unidentified owner of this name or whether he is identical to any of the other known individuals of this name who are attested during the New Kingdom, and whose genealogy can be reconstructed.
