Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Achille’s character in Statius’ is particulary complex: the poet intends to present a hero who encompasses all the features of its literary precedents. In this sense, could acquire new value also the expression present in the preface to verses 4-5 which seems to respond to a broader cultural intent, aimed to the composition of a poem that can match the greatness of the Homeric text.
