L’analisi incrociata della tradizione letteraria con i manuali retorici induce a scegliere la lezione in luogo di in Cic. 1, 229. Cicerone fa riferimento allo stile semplice degli Stoici usando una massima di Euripide (. 469) che fu assai popolare nelle scuole antiche. Se questa ipotesi coglie nel vero, allora la citazione di Cicerone dovrebbe essere aggiunta ai del verso euripideo.

Abstract

Analysis of the literary tradition and rhetorical handbooks allows us to read instead of in Cic. 1, 229. Cicero refers to the plain style of Stoic rhetoric by using a Euripidean maxim (. 469) that was very popular in ancient schools. If that is true, then Cicero’s quote should be added to the of Euripides’ verse.
