Bishop Wilfrid is frequently credited with the conversion of Northumbria to the Roman practices for Easter. Stephen of Ripon’s Vita Wilfridi followed by Bede’s Historia ecclesiastica are the main sources for his career. A recent collection of essays allows readers to assess claims expressed by Stephen for Wilfrid’s success.
