Abstract
This essay considers angelic song in Piers Plowman - with its simultaneously corporeal and metaphysical qualities - as a heuristic for understanding the ethical repercussions of sonic phenomena in Langland’s poem. It suggests that Piers Plowman’s musical landscape includes a complex renegotiation of Rollean canor as communal praxis.
