The subject of Epigr. Bob. 55 and 56 was developed by the anonymous author not only through the reworking of AP IX 11, 12, 13 and 13b, but also through a transversal tradition which attributed to the apologue of the blind and the lame a theological function in the moral debate on the relationship between soul and body and which included the topic of physical disability among the declamatory exercises. It is likely that Girolamo Avanzi corrected Epigr. Bob. 65, 2 under the influence of the philosophical and rhetorical tradition.

The article discusses again - after the Teubner edition by the same author - two vexati loci of the poem Aegritudo Perdicae proposing original textual solutions through the recovery of appropriate literary models.

On analyse ici un poème de l’Anthologie latine qui évoque la destruction d’un monument païen. Il y est question de la destruction d’un temple de Venus dont les pierres doivent servir à édifier des murailles. Ce poème est particulièrement intéressant en ce qu’il n’a pas de parallèle. Aucun texte en effet ne nous atteste la destruction de monuments païens exclusivement dans le but pratique d’édifier un ouvrage militaire d’utilité publique.

The paper proposes a critical evaluation of the correction motibus, approved by editors, and of the transmitted reading montibus in the v. 6 of the Luxorius’ epigram about the pantomime Macedonia (310 Happ).

The paper examines Luxorius’ epigram 325 R²De Romulo picto, ubi in muris fratrem occidit. The analysis of textual references to the literary tradition about Romulus’ fratricide, allows to discover, despite the laudatory tone of the poem, a controversial interpretation of the founding myths of Rome, that finds correspondence in several African authors, including other poets of the Anthologia Latina.

Starting from the examination of the lucky topos of the bear’s birth, which gives birth to small imperfect ones and licks them until she gives them a complete shape, we discuss an epigram by the Carthaginian poet Luxorius, dedicated to this topic. The identification of the imitation by Luxorius of an epigram attributed to Petronius (fr. 26 Bucheler = 26 Muller = AL 690 Riese²) allows us to introduce considerations regarding the diffusion of Petronian poetic florilegiums in late ancient North Africa, which soon migrated to the Spain of Isidorus of Seville and originated anthologies subsequently testified by IX century manuscripts such as the Vossianus Q. 86 and the deperditus Bellovacensis.

After some considerations about Cuperus’ copy of the epigram by Luxorius 332 Happ, a correction of v. 7 Laconides is given.

Returning to Priap. 68, 11 starting from the discussion conducted on the subject by Scevola Mariotti and his correction morata (mistakenly held by M. Reeve one of his best conjectures), the transmitted non nota is defended on the basis of Martial (11, 25) and much more and it is explained.

Giovanni Pascoli’s poem Solon shows that the author realized some of its stanzas by the combination of Sapphic fragments. He used, therefore, the typical cento tecnique. Pascoli’s attention for centos may be found in his keen interest for every Vergil-related literary product.

The article consists of three parts. The first takes stock of the information currently available and reconstructable concerning the lost manuscript that the humanist Claude Binet claims to have found in the library of the cathedral of Beauvais and to have used for his edition of Petronian poems of 1579. The second part concerns a Petavianus manuscript that Riese considered lost and which instead can be identified in a manuscript of the Vatican library, of which the textual redaction referred to AL 88 is considered. The third part examines Binet’s working method to evaluate, where it is possible by the comparison with other manuscripts still available, to what extent the humanist philologist intervenes to modify the handwritten text according to his iudicium.

The question of the authenticity of the Luxorian titles is reexamined by relating it to the stemma codicum of Anthologia Latina, now enriched by the acquisitions regarding Binet’s deperditus Bellovacensis. The titles of the poems of Anthologia Latina present in the sixteenth-century edition of Binet are discussed.

A copy of the Ausonian editio curated by Girolamo Avanzi (Venetiis 1507) and now housed in the Biblioteca General Histórica of the Universidad de Salamanca, belonged to the Spanish humanist Hernán Núñez de Toledo y Guzmán, known as Pincianus. This copy is here examined for the first time in order to systematically analyse the thick original notes of the Pincianus.

The paper proposes a new interpretation for Giovanni Pascoli’s poem Rosa di macchia. The relation between this poem and others by the same author shows that the image of the rose, to which the poem is dedicated, hides a reference to Pascoli’s sister Ida. Influences from the Latin Anthology poems about the roses, particularly from the De rosis nascentibus, are also considered.

Remarks on a recent Book on Epigrammata Bobiensia edited by Etienne Wolff.

This paper debates a recent publication (Les “lieux” de l’epigramme latine tardive: vers un elargissement du genre, edited by Luciana Furbetta and Celine Urlacher-Becht, 2020), focusing on the categories of ‘place’ and ‘enlargement’ as potential exegetic vectors to investigate the most relevant renovation factors of the epigrammatic genre during the Late Antiquity (especially in Vandalic, Gallic and Italian context).
