Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This paper aims to examine the critical status of the research on the life of Jesus. It calls into question the methodological assumption that recognizes in the proto-Christian literary documents the univocal unfolding of a massive theological architecture, rising on the foundations of some news about that life.

The critical core of the dispute is based on the hypothesis that, when redacting their Gospels, the synoptic communities saw the protagonist of those texts as their own . The consistency and wilfulness of this work allow to introduce the profile of a “third Jesus” between the polarities of the historiographic research: the literary Jesus.
