Abstract

Abstract

This paper examines some of the characteristics of Langlandian personification. Beginning with a brief look at the interpolations in found in Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS Bodley 686, this paper goes on to consider the notable lack of visual description linked to the personifications in , as well as the comparative emphasis on sound and voice that distinguishes Langland’s use of personification.
