In the Ars amatoria, modelled on didactic and elegiac sources, Ovid organizes his speech with a strong attention for structure, reflecting the didactic finalities; the poetical tissue reveals a methodological formulation, that proceeds without swerves, but according to a lucid preceptive explanation.
