Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Tracks of the violent events at which hint annalists can be found in the roman ground: ≪coups d'etat≫, fires, floods... The stratigraphy often allows to date them. In that case the archaeologists need the annalistic tradition to interpret their finds. Besides the help which they bring to the study of the society is essential: broadcasting of legends, cults, importance of the evolution of social classes, reality of invention of the currency... In this last case, let us notice that archaeology, far from supporting the tradition, ruins it (for the moment at least).
