Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This article presents some Latin epigrams - together with their Castilian translation - that were made in the eighteenth-century Canary Islands in order to commemorate bishop Delgado’s death and which can be found in four manuscript copies. The different scribes of three out of these four copies have been identified whereas the fourth one remains anonymous. Accordingly, the characteristics of these compositions are analyzed taking into account their content and classical sources in an attempt to offer some conclusions about the relationship among these manuscripts.
