Abstract

Abstract

The author investigates the role of illuminated bestiaries in the English Franciscan culture, the use of these manuscripts in the Franciscan milieu in England of the 13th century and proposes an analysis of two manuscripts of this period which could be related with Franciscan commissions and which show an importance given by Franciscans to the moral teaching of the medieval bestiaries.
