Du manuscrit à l’imprimé. La pseudo-traduction comme rite d’institution auctorial

La pseudo-traduction constitue un rite d’institution auctorial propre au domaine littéraire, à travers lequel, à partir de déterminants socio-anthropologiques institutionnalisés, certains auteurs configurent leur posture lors de moments cruciaux de leur carrière, en particulier à son entame. Pour les périodes les plus récentes, la scénographie paratextuelle sur laquelle se fonde le procédé implique ainsi, presque systématiquement, un passage d’un texte manuscrit à un texte imprimé. Pour imaginaire qu’il soit, ce topos n’en participe pas moins de la pragmatique du texte. Son étude a pour finalité non seulement de mettre en évidence certains paramètres de l’imaginaire de la traduction mais aussi et surtout d’éclairer la spécificité de la pseudo-traduction dans le contexte plus général des types de suppositions d’auteur, en soulignant notamment les enjeux symboliques de ce dispositif à part.

Pseudotranslation constitutes an auctorial rite of institution which is proper to the literary field and through which certain authors, by means of institutionalized socio-anthropological determinants, configure their authorial posture at crucial moments in their career, particularly at its beginnings. In the most recent periods, the paratextual scenographies on which this procedure is based therefore almost systematically implicate the passing from a manuscript to a printed text. However imaginary this topos may be, it nevertheless participates in the pragmatics of the text. Its study not only serves to highlight certain parameters of the imaginary of translation, but aims especially to elucidate the specificity of pseudotranslation in a more general context of different types of authorial suppositions, notably by emphasizing the symbolic stakes of this particular device.
