f Adalbert de Vogüé et la tradition bénédictine des commentaires de la Règle

Commenter la Règle fut pour le père Adalbert de Vogüé l’œuvre d’une vie entière. Derrière la reconnaissance implicite d’une certaine filiation au moins dans la modalité de lecture de la Règle, la commenter s’inscrit aussi, pour le père de Vogüé, dans le contexte particulier du concile Vatican II et de l’aggiornamento. Commenter la Règle consiste pour le père Adalbert à en analyser les sources internes, les étapes de rédaction, la dynamique monastique et historique interne. Ainsi, ce qui le différencie de ses prédécesseurs bénédictins, Mège, Calmet ou Delatte, c’est le fait qu’il n’évoque que très rarement la question des relectures de la Règle dans l’histoire du monachisme bénédictin médiéval et moderne. Il donne même l’impression de se désintéresser de ces évolutions alors qu’il est particulièrement sensible, pour ce qui est du vi^e siècle et de la période qu’il vit, à la nécessité de mettre en relation le texte et son contexte de manière à saisir l’originalité et l’inaltérabilité du texte de la Règle et de l’expérience monastique bénédictine.

Commenting the Rule was for Father Adalbert de Vogüé the work of a lifetime. Behind the implicit recognition of a certain affiliation, at least in the manner of reading the Rule, its commentary was also inscribed, for Father de Vogüé, in the special context of Vatican II and its updates. For Father Adalbert, however, commenting consisted in analyzing the internal sources, the steps in composition, the monastic dynamic and internal history. What sets him off from his Benedictine predecessors, Mège, Calmet, and Delatte, is the fact that his evokes only rarely the question of the re-readings of the Rule in the history of medieval and modern Benedictine monasticism. He even gives the impression of having no interest in its evolutions, whereas when it comes to the sixth century and the period in which he himself lives, he is particularly sensitive to the need to relate the text to its context so as to grasp the originality and inalterability of the text of the Rule and the Benedictine monastic experience.

Für Pater Adalbert de Vogüé war die Kommentierung der Regel eine Lebensaufgabe. Hinter der impliziten Anerkenntnis einer bestimmten Filiation, nicht zuletzt im Hinblick auf die Lesung der Regel, war ihre Kommentierung für Pater de Vogüé auch in den besonderen Kontext des 2. Vatikanums und seiner Aktualisierungen gestellt. Für Pater Adalbert bestand das Kommentieren der Regel in der Analyse ihrer inneren Quellen, der Etappen ihrer Entstehung, der monastischen Dynamik und der inneren Geschichte.Was ihn von seinen benediktinischen Vorgängern Mège, Calmet und Delatte unterscheidet ist der Umstand, dass er nur selten die Frage der Re-Lektüre der Regel in der Geschichte des mittelalterlichen und des modernen benediktinischen Mönchtums thematisiert. Er vermittelt den Eindruck, kein Interesse an dieser Entwicklung zu haben, auch wenn er für das 6. Jahrhundert ebenso wie für seine eigene Zeit besonders aufmerksam im Hinblick auf die Kontextualisierung des Textes ist und die Originalität und Unveränderlichkeit des Regeltextes wie des benediktinisch-monastischen Experiments würdigt.
