Abstract

Abstract

A new Greek graffito from the basaltic desert of northeastern Jordan is published here. It commemorates the passage or stay of its author in the Wādī Rāǧil. Numerous Safaitic inscriptions already testified to the presence of nomadic pastoralists in this natural corridor between the Ḥawrān, the Azraq oasis, and the Wādī al-Sirḥān, on the margins of the Roman province of Arabia. The onomastics of the text find parallels in regional, Safaitic and Nabataean epigraphy.
