Dans cet article on reprend brièvement le problème des rapports entre les deux rédactions qui nous sont parvenues des anciennes versions latines de la Synopse et des Euporista d’Oribase. Dans ce but, on fait porter l'analyse sur les passages de Celse que l’on retrouve dans la version dite plus ancienne (Aa) et sur la facon dont ils ont été remanies, pour aboutir à une ≪nouvelle≫ redaction, parsemée de détails qui prouvent la condition de texte modifié. Ensuite, dans la deuxième partie, on présente l’hypothèse de l’existence d’une ≪seule≫ version des oeuvres d’Oribase, dont le résultat seraient les deux rédactions conservées à l’heure actuelle, auxquelles on serait arrivé par des remaniements postérieurs, plus pousses et notamment visibles dans le cas de la version Aa.

In both the manuscript and printed tradition, John Chrysostom is wrongly credited with hundreds of greek homilies from IVth to the Vllth century. Most of these pseudochrysostomian texts countain commentaries composed as dramatised biblical scenes. Such rewriting of biblical episodes could serve either to carry the personal interpretation of the commentator or to permit him to reinvent or reshape the biblical personage.

The rewritten figures show little ressemblence to the image they have in the Holy Scripture. They may remind heroes of the ancient Greek tragedies or follow the pattern of comedies and mimes. The phenomenon is all the more remarkable that the preachers appreciated in high circles and, first of all, John Chrysostom violently condemned theatre-going.

Notre travail doit se lire dans le cadre de nos études sur le monde des Carmina Latina Epigraphica et de sa relation avec la poésie latine. Notre hypothèse de travail est qu’il y a une double relation (donc une interrelation) entre les CLE et l'haute poésie latine : une influence très bien etudiée de la poésie vers l’épigraphie, mais aussi une autre influence, méconue et presque toujours oubliée, des CLE vers les poètes latins plus renommés. L’objectif de ce travail c’est de démontrer que Horace, un des poètes les plus selectifs de Rome, est aussi réceptif au langage de la poésie épigraphique grecque et latine.

Édition, traduction française et commentaire de l’inscription 534 JCERV Vives, trouvée près de Beja en 1958. Cette élégie funéraire et amoureuse est aussi originale dans sa double inspiration que dans sa forme de poème en prose; celle-ci, rythmée et assonancée, a permis une présentation typographique nouvelle du texte. La pièce reflète de façon suggestive la culture classique et biblique d'un lettré de la fin du VII^e siècle en Lusitanie méridionale. L’émotion de l’auteur et ses recherches formelles sont à rapprocher de celles que manifeste l’inscription d’Oppila (287 Vives), trouvée en Bétique, et de peu antérieure.

The analysis of the treatise De ortu et obitu Patrum reveals that some apocryphal writings were available in Isidore of Seville’s library; this was true at least of a Latin translation of the Greek Vitae prophetarum, a Latin translation of a Greek Index apostolorum discipulorumque, a copy of the so-called Breuiarium Apostolorum, the Priscillianist Prologi Monarchiani, and the apocryphal Latin Acta Petri et Pauli and Acta lohannis. Despite the interdictions of the Roman Church, the Sevillian bishop reads and profits from these apocryphal works, since they are the only sources he can use in order to complete his biographical catalogue of biblical characters.

The three poems adscribed to Martin of Braga present some interesting features in the context of 6th century poetry. The aim of this article is to outline the main features of their metrical and prosodic technique, as well as to point out their obvious relationship with merovigian Gaul. The epitaphium proprium presents some differences at a metrical level which, together with their content, might lead us to revise the traditional authorship.

En élaborant le centon du cinquième livre des Conférences de Jean Cassien, Eutrope de Valence dans son œuvre De octo vitiis, omet toutes les références ascétiques et morales d’usage exclusivement monastique. L’étude de ces omissions indique que l'intention d’Eutrope était d'écrire un corpus de doctrine destiné à la formation et l’utilisation du clergé. De ce fait, l’influence de Cassien s’étend à la catéchèse. Par ailleurs, la manière dont il analyse les références de Cassien en ce qui concerne la doctrine de la grâce et le libre arbitre prouve qu’il le fait sous l'influence des remarques du Concile d’Orange de 529 en la matière.

The Christian community in Moslem Spain was mostly bilingual in speech (ladino and Arabic) throughout, but around the end of the ninth century they seem to have decided to become literate in Arabic alone. This paper suggests that part of the motivation for ceasing to write in the traditional way lay precisely in the attempts of the Cordoba scholars of the 850s to extend the level of their traditional culture ; in the event, rather than (as has often been said) leading to a higher level of Latinity, their attempts snapped the tenuous thread that was still linking the registers of colloquial speech and traditional written techniques within a monolingual whole. The effect of this dissociation in Carolingian France was to create a new and conscious conceptual distinction between Latin and Romance, but in Moslem Spain it was much easier in practice to stop writing in the Roman alphabet altogether and remain ladino-speaking but only literate (if at all) in Arabic.
