Dhamār epigraphical series. 2, An inscription mentioning the tribe of Ruṣāba and Qarīs under the reign of King ʿAmdān Bayān Yuhaqbiḍ

With this article, the authors pursue the publication of inscriptions originating from the region of Dhamār, in the highlands south of Sanaa. The study publishes an unedited inscription from the Ruṣāba village, lying north of Dhamār city and near to the Qarīs village. The text is written in Sabaic language and commemorates building activities in the area under the reign of King ʿAmdān Bayān Yuhaqbiḍ (early 2^nd c. ad). The authors of the inscription are members of the Ruṣāba and Qarīs tribe, the first name being new in inscriptions while the second being known from only one Sabaic document. The text testifies the exceptional continuity characterising the place names and tribe names in Yemen.

Avec cet article, les auteurs poursuivent la publication d’inscriptions originaires de la région de Dhamār, dans les Hautes- Terres au sud de Sanaa. L’étude publie une inscription inédite du village de Ruṣāba, situé au nord de la ville de Dhamār et près du village de Qarīs. Le texte est écrit en langue sabaïque et commémore des activités de construction dans la région sous le règne du roi ʿAmdān Bayān Yuhaqbiḍ (début du ii^e s. apr. J.-C.). Les auteurs de l’inscription sont membres de la tribu Ruṣāba et Qarīs, le premier nom étant nouveau dans les inscriptions tandis que le second n’était connu que dans un seul document sabaïque. Le texte témoigne de la continuité exceptionnelle caractérisant les toponymes et les noms de tribus au Yémen.
