Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Pierre Bordreuil, together with A. Abou Assaf and A. R. Millard, published in 1982 the edition of a bilingual text, an Akkadian and Aramaic inscription, found in northern Syria, at Tell Fekheriye. The philological and historical interpretation of these texts, explaining the circumstances of the dedication of a statue of the lord of the city of Guzana to the local Storm God, has opened new perspectives for understanding the relations between Aramean and Assyrian cultures, societies and powers at the beginning of the 1st millennium BCE. The paper retraces the impact of the edition of those inscriptions in Ancient Near Eastern studies at the turn of last century.
