Abstract

Abstract

In the middle of an exegetical debate in the Coptic version of the Acta Pilati, an enigmatic sentence refers to the eternal memory of Iobel (XVI,7). A new reading of this passage suggests seeing here an exclamation' By Jupiter Sumanus...' and proposes reinterpreting the historical context of this debate, during the IVth century.
