The Earliest Printed Versions of the Evangelium Nicodemi and Their Manuscript Sources

During the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, the Latin Evangelium Nicodemi was printed eleven times. Five of those early editions appear to have been based on manuscripts, while the remaining six recycled earlier prints. By investigating the manuscript and print sources of those earliest editions, this paper locates the editions in the overall textual tradition of the apocryphon and reveals which textual branches provided the foundation for the reception of the Latin text in the age of print.

Au cours du XV^e et du XVI^e siècle, l’Évangile de Nicodème latin fut imprimé onze fois. Cinq de ces premières éditions semblent avoir été fondées sur des manuscrits, tandis que les six autres ont recyclé des impressions plus anciennes. En étudiant les sources manuscrites et imprimées de ces éditions les plus anciennes, cet article assigne une place aux éditions dans la tradition textuelle globale de l’apocryphe et révèle quelles branches textuelles fournirent les fondations de la réception du texte latin à l’époque de l’Imprimerie.
