Abstract

Abstract

Praetorius’ anthology is composed of an adaptation of the Epistle to the Laodiceans, of a hybrid collection of fragments of the apostles and of some extracts from the Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs. Its object was to instruct young preachers and teachers of theology in the finer points of Lutheran doctrine and spirituality. It provides evidence of the extent to which New Testament Apocrypha were assimilated by the Lutheran church towards the end of the XVIth century.
