Abstract

Le présent article revient sur la thèse récemment exprimée par Silvia Fazzo, que l’un des plus importants manuscrits de la famille de la d’Aristote, à savoir le 87.12 (Ab) , ne change pas d’affiliation au livre 7, 1073a1, comme Dieter Harlfinger l’avait soutenu en faisant valoir une observation paléographique, mais qu’il devient un manuscrit de la famille déjà au livre 8, 1065a26, autrement dit au point où se transforme en une composition d’extraits, plus ou moins remaniés, de la d’Aristote. En prenant en compte le zèle pour la collation qui caractérisait les savants byzantins, cet article présente les multiples révisions du texte de la (aussi selon le texte de la ) qui ont eu lieu à Byzance, et montre que la thèse de Fazzo ne peut pas être retenue parce qu’elle contourne l’importance de la philologie byzantine quant à la reconstitution de la tradition textuelle de la .

Abstract

The present article reconsiders the thesis recently expressed by Silvia Fazzo that one of the most important manuscripts of the β-family of Aristotle’s , namely the 87.12 (Ab), does not change affiliation at book 7, 1073a1, as Dieter Harlfinger had previously argued on palaeographical grounds, but it turns to a manuscript of the α-family already at book 8, 1065a26, that is, at the point at which becomes a composition of more or less reworked extracts from Aristotle’s . By taking into account the zeal of collation that characterized Byzantine scholars, the present article displays the multiple revisions of the text of the (also according to the text of the ) and shows that the above thesis cannot be retained due to its overriding the significance of Byzantine scholarship in assessing the textual tradition of the .
