f Constantin Lascaris et les Halieutiques d’Oppien de Cilicie : du brouillon a l'édition

Cette contribution se propose d’étudier les rapports philologiques et historiques d’un groupe de cinq manuscrits des Halieutiques d’Oppien de Cilicie, produits dans le dernier tiers du xv^e siècle en Sicile. Il s’avère que tous descendent, plus ou moins directement, du Matritensis 4642, copié dans l’entourage d’Andronikos Galesiotes à Messine, dans les années 1460. Ce témoin a été lu par Constantin Lascaris qui s’en est servi pour composer une paraphrase, ici étudiée pour la première fois, et pour proposer une édition manuscrite riche en conjectures. Les deux derniers manuscrits de cette branche sont des copies effectuées par des élèves occidentaux de Lascaris. Les affinités philologiques du Matritensis 4642 avec deux manuscrits contemporains produits en Terre d’Otrante, dans l’entourage de Sergio Stiso, et avec le plus ancien témoin de la tradition, le Laurentianus 31.39, permettent de poser l’existence d’un prototype fort ancien en lien avec l’Italie méridionale.

This article is a philological and historical study of a group of five manuscripts of the Halieutica by Oppian of Cilicia. They were produced in Sicily in the last third of the fifteenth century. It turns out that all of them stem, more or less directly, from the MS Madrid, BN, 4642 which was copied in the 1460s in Messina in the circle of Andronikos Galesiotes. Constantine Lascaris read this copy and paraphrased it in a text which is here studied for the first time. He also used it for his manuscript edition, which abounds in conjectures. The two remaining manuscripts of this group were copied by some of Lascaris’ western students. The close relationship between the MS Madrid, BN, 4642, two contemporary copies produced in Otranto in the circle of Sergio Stiso, and the oldest manuscript of the Halieutica, the MS Florence, Biblioteca Laurenziana, 31.39, leads us to assume the existence of a very ancient prototype from southern Italy.
