Abstract

Abstract

The , recently attributed to Arnobius the Younger ( 7543, fifth century), is one of the most wide-spread hagiographical texts in the Middle Ages, as witnessed by the 498 preserved manuscripts (to which one can add 45 that are lost). This list is followed by a brief synthesis on the earliest transmission of the Passion, a preamble to a critical edition. Two short Carolingian texts are edited in an annexe: the Bavarian abridgement of the Passion, composed around 800 in the circle of Arno of Salzburg, as well as an alphabetical poem on the translation of Sebastian to Soissons in 826.
