The papyrus said to be by Artemidorus is a creation of the forger Constantin Simonidès: the coincidences between certain passages in the papyrus and the works of Simonidès, his manner of working each time he created a fake from known texts, and the expressions taken from modern languages figuring in the papyrus confirm this conclusion with regard to the author of the pseudo-Artemidorus.
