Cet article essaie d’évaluer les conceptions modernes sur l’archétype, avec une attention particulière portée aux définitions proposées par M. D. Reeve. Cette contribution proposera une nouvelle catégorisation des mots : d’une part, il opposera l’archétype (témoin idéal) au plus-proche-commun-ancêtre-de-la-tradition (témoin historique) ; de l’autre part, l’original (idéal) à l’autographe (historique).

This article aims to assess modern conceptions of the archetype, with special attention to those advanced by M. D. Reeve. It will propose a new set of relevant terms : on the one hand, the archetype (ideal witness) as opposed to the plus-proche-commun-ancêtre-de-la-tradition (historical witness) ; on the other hand, the original (ideal) as opposed to the autograph (historical).
